REIG JOFRE joins FARMAMUNDI’s Humanitarian Action and Emergency Fund
REIG JOFRE, a pharmaceutical company listed on the continuous market of the Spanish stock exchange, and Farmamundi, an international NGO for development cooperation, humanitarian action, and emergency response, have signed a collaboration agreement that will enable the acquisition and shipment of emergency medical supplies following the guidelines recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO), as well as other activities related to humanitarian action.
With this initiative, REIG JOFRE joins the Humanitarian Action and Emergency Fund (FAHE), whose objective is to respond swiftly and effectively in the initial stages of a humanitarian crisis. This alliance is a clear example of how the private sector and non-governmental organizations can join forces to address global challenges and build a fairer and more sustainable world.
The signing took place at the company’s headquarters in Barcelona, with the presence of Joan Durán, Farmamundi’s Delegate in Catalonia, and Àlex Garcia Reig, Vice President of REIG JOFRE.
Àlex Garcia stated, “The alliance we have established reflects our ongoing commitment to improving people’s quality of life. We not only focus on the development, production, and marketing of high-quality and essential drugs, but also on ensuring that they reach those who need them most. Collaborations like this give meaning to our existence. We are truly proud to be able to progress together in humanitarian issues and make a positive impact on vulnerable communities.”
Joan Durán, on the other hand, said, “This strategic alliance represents a significant milestone in our efforts to provide effective and timely humanitarian aid. We are pleased to have REIG JOFRE as a new member of the Humanitarian Action and Emergency Fund (FAHE), as their commitment to business ethics and sustainable responsibility aligns perfectly with our mission.”
Farmamundi, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year, is an international NGO for development cooperation, humanitarian action, and emergency response, with expertise in promoting comprehensive health and pharmaceutical aid to less privileged countries. Currently, it is the first Spanish nonprofit organization specialized in the supply of medicines and medical supplies in emergencies.
REIG JOFRE, founded in 1929 in Barcelona, is dedicated to the research, development, manufacturing, and marketing of pharmaceutical products and food supplements. The company operates in three business units: Pharmaceutical Technologies (sterile injectables, lyophilized products, and antibiotics), Specialty Pharmacare (dermatology, osteoarticular, women’s health, and pediatrics), and Consumer Healthcare (food supplements under the brand Forté Pharma and OTC products).
